Born in 1991, Lucky Nyasulu comes from Khwawa Village, Karonga district in Malawi. She is a second born in a family of 2 boys and 4 girls. Her father is a civil servant working with Ministry of Agriculture as a Field Assistant and her mother is a home maker.
Despite agriculture being the main source of income, it was faced with a lot of challenges such as disease outbreak, post-harvest losses which resulted in low crop yields to her family and other community members. Lucky, was therefore, inspired to further her studies in agricultural-related course, which is Irrigation Engineering at University of Malawi (2010-2013). She is currently pursuing Masters in Community Studies and Extension at Egerton University (2017-2019), Kenya, with support from MasterCard foundation Scholarship.
Lamech Amwine is a Ugandan national, born in 1988 in Katikamwe village, Kyabugimbi Sub County, Bushenyi district in western Uganda. Born from a poor background Lamech struggled hard through education. With the support of his parents, he managed to complete his studies in 2013 from Makerere University graduating with a degree in Development Studies. From 2014 to June 2017, he worked as a Community Development Officer (CDO) with Bushenyi district local Government. During this time, he economically empowered the families and individuals in this community through agricultural transformation and business enterprise startups. He is currently enrolled for Master of Science degree in Community Studies and Extension at Egerton University under the sponsorship and support of MasterCard Foundation through RUFORUM. He is looking forward to finish his studies and contribute to community/national development.
Judith Cheruiyot is a Kenyan by nationality, from Uasin-gishu County, Sergoit location. She was born in 1991 and a third born in a family of, 2 girls and 2 boys. Judith is an orphan, growing up she experienced financial difficulties in pursuit of her studies but her determination and hard work saw her progress with her studies through the support of her uncle and relatives.
Judith is currently under the MasterCard Foundation @ Ruforum scholarship, pursuing Masters of Science degree in Community Studies and Extension at Egerton University (2017-2019). She is also engaged in a Community Action Research Project (CARP+) for improving small holder farmer’s access to quality seed potato in her research studies.
John Atsu Agbolosoo was born on 26th July, 1990 to Mr. Livingstone Agbolosoo and Miss. Agnes Agbenuawor all of blessed memory at Vui-Keta in Volta Region of Ghana. He had his primary education at St. John A.M.E Zion Basic, Keta and later completed at St. Jones A.M.E Zion Basic School, Vui in 2007.
Due to his passion and zeal for agriculture in his earlier days; he decided to study Agricultural Science in one of the best Agriculture schools in the region; this school is well known to be the first Senior High School established in the region and for training students in agriculture and agribusiness activities. He took agriculture course in Zion College of West Africa (ZICO) from 2007 to 2011 where he majored in option Animal Science.
The CaWSA- Centre showcases various water conservation, storage, abstraction and distribution systems and soil and moisture conservation technologies, innovations and management practices (TIMPS).
